UNSEEN

During my art residency in India, I traveled to several villages across North India where I witnessed women wearing veils when in public spaces. This centuries-old cultural tradition is the background of the series “Unseen.” The work is a combination of layers where vellum, fashion magazines, and paint are assembled into a complex unity. It becomes a reflection about women moving between the worlds of religion, tradition, and culture as they strive to be heard.
