ROOTED
While moving and living in different countries, I often questioned my roots, which I could feel in my childhood home. I knew that some roots grew from the new places where I lived. In “Rooted,” I explore the sense of belonging to a land. The series is a combination of collages made with maps and anatomical drawings of the body from the book Gray’s Anatomy. Land welcomes the human at birth; while the body, in its physicality, experiences the world. What gives us a sense of being rooted in a place, a culture, an environment?
