CLOSE BY

"Close By" is a site-specific installation made of everyday plastic bags applied on the windowpanes of the Smack Mellon gallery space in Brooklyn. The imagery is an abstract composition directly inspired by the proximity of the East River, which runs alongside the gallery space in Dumbo. By using recycled plastic bags for the installations, the work allows the viewer a measure of intimacy with the work through the familiarity of the material. In transforming these everyday bags into delicate collages, I aim to reconsider the value of these discarded objects and their impact on our natural environment.
